Athena teaches practical modules on Film Studies Programme at Queen Mary. Courses she teaches at undergraduate level are:
- Scriptwriting
- Production Skills
- Creative production
- Documentary Theory and Practice
At postgraduate level
- Documentary Theory and Practice
Athena also leads Mile End Films; a production unit in the Film Studies Department, giving graduates the chance to further develop creative and technical skills through professional projects.
This exciting new enterprise is to focus on filming events at QMUL, while also taking on special assignments off-campus. This was made possible through a successful application to the Prospects Fund, part of Queen Mary Innovations and Enterprise scheme
Athena is also a filmmaker, past work includes Return to Chiapas (52 mins Award winning documentary – RIFF 2005) Backroads (17 mins fiction) and more recently Fly Away (8 mins fiction shot on 16mm) Roxanne (12mins)
She is currently working on a documentary on the East End with ‘High Street 2012’ and developing a feature she has co-written ASTRA based on the novel ‘Affinity with night Skies’ by Astrid Katcharyan.
