Current research projects
A biography of Paul Celan is in preparation for Suhrkamp Verlag (Berlin); this project is complemented by the editorship of texts from the poet’s Nachlass and by collaboration on the making of a feature-length film.
A study treating theoretical and comparative implications of G.C. Lichtenberg’s writings on London is in progress and will result in a monograph.
Further research is dedicated to theoretical aspects of Goethe and translation; to the fantastic in texts from the Faust tradition; to the simultaneity of different levels of historical consciousness in lyrical texts of the period 1926-1956; and to the intensely recurring theme of impossible homecoming in poetry of the 20th century.
