The Department of Iberian & Latin American Studies is historically the merger of the Westfield and Queen Mary Departments, which celebrated the 50th anniversaries of their foundations in 2005 and 2006 respectively and represent a long and eminent academic tradition. We pride ourselves on academic excellence (we were ranked eighth in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise), on imaginative teaching, on friendly and informal staff-student relations and on wide coverage of all the principal areas of Hispanism.
