Welcome to the Department of Hispanic
Studies, historically the merger of the Westfield and Queen Mary
Departments, which celebrated the 50th anniversaries of
their foundations in 2005 and 2006 respectively and represent a long
and eminent academic tradition. We pride ourselves on academic
excellence (we were ranked eighth in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise), on
imaginative teaching, on friendly and informal staff-student relations
and on wide coverage of all the principal areas of Hispanism. We invite
you to follow some of the links below, which will tell you more about
our enthusiasms and hopefully lead you further into the fascinating
world of Hispanic Studies.
