Multimedia Language Resource Centre Projects

1. Academic English Online.

Between 2009 and 2011 we provided technical support for the Academic English Online project (funded by The Westfield Trust at QMUL). This project was developed by two teachers of English for Academic Purposes, to provide an online resource of structured learning materials to support learners of English for Academic Purposes at Queen Mary. The website is available to Queen Mary staff and students on the college Intranet: Academic English Online [intranet onlny].

2.Spanish Placement Test.

In 2012 we developed an on-line Spanish language placement test in collaboration with the Department of Iberian and Latin American Studies. This project was also funded by The Westfield Trust. The test is a key building block for the Spanish Language teaching programmes, as it provides an essential mechanism to stream language learners. It also allows the Department of Hispanic Studies to evaluate what first year students already know and to prepare teaching materials for the following academic year.

3. Winners of the Multimedia Lab Teaching Award 2007/2008

In 2008 we were awarded funding by the Centre for Excellence in Mulitmedia Language Learning, to develop our multimedia lab project entitled, Teaching Techniques for Multimedia Language Labs. In this project we explored and developed approaches to language teaching using multimedia language laboratories. A full report on the project can be read here.
