Dr Susanne Frane was educated at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, at the University of Reading (UK) and Ludwig-Maximilian-Universität München, where she read German Literature and English and American Studies. Her M.A. thesis (Magisterarbeit) was on “Beseelte Kunst – entseelte Körper: Die Metamorphosen des Pygmalion-Mythos in der anglo-amerikanischen Literatur des 19. Jahrhunderts und des Fin de Siècle“, which focused mainly on Gender and Cultural Studies. She completed her PhD in English and American Literature in 2007. She is currently working on a new monograph on acts of reading in English literature.
Prior to that she worked for a news magazine in Munich, then for the arts programme at the head office of the Goethe-Institut in Munich (Media Art and Film and Television). Before she was appointed DAAD Lektorin at QM, she acted as head of the English Department at the Volkshochschule Reutlingen. She has been working as a freelance journalist for several newspapers such as the Nürnberger Zeitung and the Nürnberger Nachrichten.
