Film Studies at Queen Mary is an exciting and vibrant new department, which offers students the chance to take challenging courses in aspects of film history and theory, as well as the opportunity to learn production skills and screenplay writing, and to put these skills into practice making short features.
The department is ideally situated in the heart of the East End, in an immensely exciting part of London, close to the new creative and media quarters in Hoxton, Shoreditch and Spitalfields. Students are encouraged to use this rich and lively area as a backdrop to their own film projects, which are often screened in the brand new state-of-the-art cinema in the department.
The teaching staff at Queen Mary are particularly approachable and friendly, and have national and international reputations in their fields. You will be taught by experienced filmmakers, as well as by leading academics in areas, which cover many different periods of film history, and with knowledge of cinemas around the world.
